Safety on China's Rails

China is the country of the "fast track" over long distances. Through the ever-growing high-speed railway network, the country aims to connect major cities, increase traffic capacity, and strengthen the internal economy by integrating neglected regions. Despite all the "faster" and "further," safety should not be neglected.
Eight high-speed rail networks, connecting north and south as well as east and west, have been in operation for several years. These routes are now in a condition that requires maintenance and repair. For the preventive reinforcement of the track slabs as well as the foundation of switch and base plates, the fischer epoxy mortar FIS EM 390 S is used. The work concerns the main connections of the rail network with the high-speed routes Shanghai-Hangzhou, Nanjing-Hangzhou, Beijing-Shanghai, Hangzhou-Ningbo, and Hangzhou-Changsha.

The project is led by the China Railway Shanghai Bureau. “Our FIS EM 390 S meets these high demands with its various features, such as its strong holding forces as well as water, heat, and moisture resistance, regardless of frost or warm temperatures,” describes Jiang Zong, Managing Director of fischer China. Because while in the north and northeastern provinces of China temperatures can drop far below zero with biting cold, in the south and in the eastern coastal regions it can become extremely hot and humid. This must be taken into account in the planning, maintenance, and inspection of infrastructure and vehicles.
The fischer injection mortar FIS EM 390 S achieves particularly high load capacities in concrete and withstands extreme conditions, as in the application case in China. It is used with reinforcing bars and suitable system components, such as the fischer anchor rod FIS A or the fischer internal thread anchor RG M I. The epoxy resin mortar can also be used in water-filled drill holes as well as seismic applications. Additionally, it offers high corrosion and fire safety. Overall, a safe choice for track maintenance in China, but also for example for fastening new rails or underwater installation.

The responsible parties place extremely strict demands on the performance of the products to ensure the effectiveness of the anchoring components even in the event of cracks in the roadway or base plates.
