Facade with symbolic character

For the most prominent construction project in the Albanian capital Tirana, the Downtown One commercial and residential tower, the fischer corporate group supplied around 85,000 Zykon plate anchors. Thanks to the secure and invisible undercut anchors, the facade can fully unfold its effect with a lot of symbolic character.
The Downtown One commercial and residential tower in the center of the capital Tirana is a visible expression of progress in Albania. With a height of 144 meters above ground, the project will be the tallest building in the country upon completion, with a timeframe until 2022. The area of 78,000 m², spread over 37 floors, is intended for mixed use including retail, commercial spaces, events, offices, and apartments. This includes five underground parking levels for the building.

The large glass surfaces of the facade are framed by elements made of basalt stone. Facade construction engineer Altin Mico from 3V Mico (Albania) chose to use the undercut anchors FZP II from the fischer group to fix the natural stone slabs. The business unit fischer Facade Systems supplied around 85,000 Zykon plate anchors FZP II 13x26 M8/SO/17 Carbon for this project.

Albania had long struggled with the consequences of the former socialist system. But in the years before the coronavirus pandemic, the country had made good progress with economic and political reforms. Therefore, in March 2020, the European Union gave the green light for accession negotiations with the EU. The Downtown One building complex embodies this new beginning. And it stands for sustainability. It is the first building in Albania to be awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
