fischer FIS RC secures new OTTO corporate headquarters in Hamburg

Foundations for the workplace of the future

On nine floors, each measuring approximately 300 to 400 square meters, offices are being created in the new OTTO corporate headquarters as multi-space, that is, as open areas without assigned workstations.

The Fischer Group is also involved in the project, whose FIS RC vinylester hybrid system is used for the subsequent reinforcement connection in concrete. "Our fastening solution convinced the contracted construction company because it is safe and at the same time economical," says Arne Saggau, responsible application technician in the field service of the Fischer Group.

Reinforcement bars installed with the injection mortar FIS RC according to building authority approval achieve higher bond strengths in tests than their embedded counterparts. The design loads that can be applied are the same. The design is carried out according to Eurocode 2 (DIN EN 1992-1-1 with NA). Corrosion protection is also ensured for the reinforcement bars subsequently embedded with mortar. The pH value of the fischer injection mortar of ≥ 12.0 provides the necessary alkaline environment. In addition, the general building authority approvals allow designs using the mortar up to fire resistance class R 180. This means that the load-bearing capacity of the structure is maintained according to European standards for 180 minutes in the event of fire.

The RebarConnect FIS RC is European assessed (ETA) and building authority approved for post-installed reinforcement connections with bars ranging from 8 to 32 mm in diameter and embedment depths up to 3,000 mm. The approval covers hammer and pneumatic drilled holes. The short open and dry times of the FIS RC speed up work progress. Depending on the temperature range from below freezing to above freezing in the anchoring base (-15°C to +40°C), processing times vary from 1 hour to 2 minutes and cure times from 36 hours to 30 minutes.

Overall, the fastening solution for post-installed reinforcement connections reduces labor as well as financial expenditures, while ensuring high safety – a contribution to the safe, fast, and economical establishment of the structural foundation for the workplace of the future.
